Dear Lies,
You deceitful, troublesome thing. You really know how to make a mess of life. There are two kinds of people no one likes, a liar and a thief. But you are actually both because your lies steal joy, you swipe trust, you rip off relationships. Sometimes you’re a sneaky little link. Oh, you start out so innocent and white and then BAM, you snowball into several twisted tales as you try to cover your first indiscretion leaving darkness in your wake. What started out harmless becomes destructive as it tears through trust and respect. You leave behind collateral damage to those who love you most.
What’s worse is when you become comfortable with yourself and you continually betray those closest to you. Your deceit leaves others confused and emotionally wrecked. What’s worse than worse? You become emotionally distant from the people you care about because your deceitful nature creates a barrier and stops you from creating deep, meaningful bonds with those around you. I feel sorry for you because you’re headed down a lonely path. What’s worse than worse than worse? People loose all trust in you. Who can believe you or anything you say? And when you speak and people question your authenticity, don’t you dare get butt hurt over the lack of trust. You made that bed sweetheart, enjoy sleeping in it.
I feel bad for you. Do you know what your tall tales do to the body? You cause stress in the brain which can lead to high blood pressure and anxiety. You lead to fatigue. It is exhausting keeping up with you. I know because I use to have you in my life! It was awful keeping up with you and covering up one little you with more of you, never being able to relax for fear of being found out. Never laying my phone down in case someone were to see my dirty little secrets. I would confuse my lies with more lies. You were mentally draining!!! Not to mention the guilt you caused my heart. The shame was heavy. I hated the person I was with you. I felt unworthy of others when I kept your company. You deteriorate self worth. Even though I hated who I was with you, I continued to let you live in me. Breaking free from you was the best thing I ever did.
I learned a valuable lesson from you. I know who I will never be again. I live in freedom now that you’re not in my life. It is a beautiful feeling living with honesty. Unfortunately, I still see you around and I really wish you didn’t run in my crowd. You’re no friend of mine. You lurk in darkness. You pull those I love into your twisted web. You break my heart the way you broke the hearts of those around me not too long ago with your made up stories. You corrupt trust. You leave devastation in your wake. I despise you! I loathe you! I hate your infectious nature. You crush friendships. You tear apart families. You destroy marriages. You wound loved ones. I wish you would get tangled up in your own web. I wish you would be crushed by your own guilt and shame. I wish you would take a hike and get lost. I wish you would unhook your claws from those I hold dear. You are not wanted so make like a tree and get outta here…
Without regards,
