On the Lake

Since my first auction piece, I was also asked to submit a voucher at the silent auction for attendees to bid on the chance to win a free illustration. This illustration was one such "free commission". The reference photo reminded me of a classic 60's era photo from a travel brochure or magazine. So, once I started laying down the black layer for shadows and base details, I sent a progress photo to my client and was surprised at her reaction. She wanted in to stay in black and white and I think it was a good call.
